{Scene Opens: The Prescott Hotel: San Francisco, CA}
The scene opens in front of the hotel mere blocks away from AT&T Park in the Embarcadero area of San Francisco. We see a podium in a meeting room with a camera crew ready to film a press conference recently announced on Twitter. There are no media members involved aside of the camera crew for the last-second conference. A door opens, and we see Indianapolis Pro Wrestling Executive Vice President Charles James, II walk out and head toward the podium wearing an IPW hoodie.
[Charles James] - Good morning. Thank you for joining me for this impromptu press conference...although it's not really a press conference per sé. Regardless, first of all, I want to thank everyone that is either watching this live or after the fact via the NGW/IPW website. With that said, I want to show my appreciation for the entire roster and staff of Indy Pro Wrestling for an amazing first episode of Conflict. Countless hours went into getting everything ready for the debut, and I appreciate everyone's hard work. Everyone deserves a round of applause, and no one should hang their heads if they came up short of a debut victory. Both Devlin and myself were very pleased with everyone's effort. With that said, the main reason I scheduled this little conference is to give a few quick updates, both of which directly affect our main event picture in the near future. As revealed on Conflict, Carmen Cambridge suffered a re-aggravation of her previous rib injury. Hence, I made the executive decision to hold her out of competition this week and until further notice. Now, I am not in control of Ms. Cambridge's career, and she wrestles for another company, which is why I am currently here in San Francisco. I will be attending this show in order to see how she competes under those conditions and will make a full evaluation after tonight and meeting with Ms. Cambridge myself. The second item on my list of talking points is very unfortunate and will directly affect this week's Conflict card, as it was originally planned.
He opens up a laptop and turns it toward the camera, displaying a tweet from the morning.
[Charles James] -Now, as you can see, Ms. Abigail Watkins suffered a break in her hand that will preliminarily leave her on the shelf from 4-6 weeks. Naturally, everyone heals differently, and we wish Ms. Watkins a speedy recovery and hope to see her back in action at the top of this company when she is able to return. These two injuries completely change landscape of the Heavyweight Title picture since that match has gone from a fatal fourway to what will now be a singles matchup between Drew Stevenson and Saint Saito. Now, allow me to put something to bed right here, right now. Both of these talented members of the IPW roster were involved in the tag team match at Conflict, the same match I said that all four had staked their claim to a title shot. These injuries do not change my words. I meant what I said, and I do my damnedest to tell the truth as much as possible. There is nothing set in-stone as to how this will be handled, but each of those two will in due time receive their opportunity as I said they would. Tempers flare and judgment calls are made on a whim. At the end of the day, my goal is to do what is in the best interest of this company and this roster. Thank you for allowing me to take a few minutes of your time to address these injuries and how they affect this company in the short term.
He steps away from the podium and exits the door as the scene fades out.
