Hayden Phoenix is coming off of a disappointment so far in New Gen Sports Entertainment. On the debut show he wrestled to a no contest due to the interference of Ethan Birch; and at the last show it was the same Ethan Birch that pulled out the win from under Hayden by taking advantage of the situation. Hayden should have and could have scored the win over Gemini, but Ethan Birch wanted it more and stole the win from under now. Now Ethan Birch is one of the two men confirmed for the Heavyweight Title match and Hayden is fighting against a man that lost last show and someone making their debut... all meanwhile a midcard match.
[The scene opens as Hayden is slouched on a bench in the locker room. The sweat glistens off of his body and head, it looks like he just finished his match in the Main Event. He wipes his brow with a towel and tosses it to the bench to his right. He grabs a bottle and swigs what is likely water. Hayden looks up at the camera and he has a fat lower lip. He looks like a defeated man, as he takes in a deep breath and focuses in on the camera]
Ethan Birch... bravo... you got the better of me. Your little toss of me outside the ring... well it caused this.
[Hayden points to his fat lip]
I sure bounced off of the floor hard and it looks like you got the win in a match that should have been mine. It looks like you were the better man today, and I underestimated you. I knew the type of man you were and what you would do to secure a victory, this loss.... it's on me. But we all know that focusing in on our negatives is not good for anyone. So it is time to look towards the next show... and I see that I am booked in a triple threat match against Zero and Jamie Jackson. Zero is also coming off of a loss, so I need to make sure that I keep his losing ways rolling. And Jamie Jackson... he sounds like he could be a contender... and he has someone in his corner... a mouthpiece of sorts. This match is a redemption of sorts for me. I need to not only stay in contention for what I believe is the obtainable; the NGSE Heavyweight Title... while at the same time not relinquishing myself to being somewhere in the middle of the card every week. I have been there and felt as though I had paid my dues, but maybe it is time for me to restructure my thinking. I have had more success when I focus one week at a time, and that is what I am going to do from here on out.
[Hayden looks up at the ceiling as a squeaky fan slowly circles... barely moving the air in the room. He continues...]
First up I want to address this "Superhero" named Zero. It does not seem like he takes this business seriously, and that is something that I find hard to fathom. This business... this industry... it is my life blood. It is what I strive to be the best at, and it is what I constantly train to get better at. I am not in positive to say whether or not Zero is talented or skilled... I have not seen enough of him and I doubt that Devlin Scott would have signed someone with no talent or skill to represent his company. That said, Zero seems to find the humor in what we do whereas I take it no different that any other job with a task at hand. A job is something that I take serious and it is something that is of the utmost importantce to me. Zero may be fine hanging back and goofing off; I will be spending hours training and preparing myself to hold a title here in NGSE.
[Hayden looks over to the monitor to see a promo showing Jamie Jackson's pre-taped interview]
And Jamie Jackson... it seems like he is something that NGSE needs... someone that is going to make a name for both himself and for the company. He is someone that I can respect... hell, leaving his home country and putting everything on the line? That is right up my own alley. But that super agent of his, he sure seems like a snake oil salesman. I am not sure if I trust him and I am not sure if Mr. Jackson should do so... but again, who am I to tell someone what to do?
I am here to make an impression and to make a name for myself. I came to NGSE because I saw an opportunity to make Hayden Phoenix a household name... to see my name at the top of the card, and to wear gold around this waist yet again. Maybe I lost my focus... maybe I was thinking too far ahead... maybe I had a misstep. No matter, I will make sure to do what it takes to overcome my two opponents and walking out of the arena with a much needed win.
[Hayden gets up and tosses a towel over the camera lens as he begins to head towards the showers]
