Change is a constant in life. How one adapts to it can make or break that person. There have been many changes in the life of the man known as Dead Eye™, all of which have been chronicled of late. A new manager and girlfriend (one in the same), a new house, new friends, and a start to completing his education by finishing his Doctorate. The fury of everything that has happened in such a short time was somewhat masked by a steady schedule that kept his mind preoccupied.
Sleep has always been a bit trivial for Dead Eye, who has maintained an odd sleep pattern since childhood. For the past week, he was not alone and found an unknown comfort in having his arms around his girlfriend. The two shared a lot that last night together before Vendetta, stay up until after dawn. Now, this is what Dead Eye thought of as day one of the adjustment. The sleeping arrangements would change, but the two would certainly remain the same as a couple. The memories of the week and what memories they'd have moving forward is what Karin had told him to think about during times like the current moment. He lied in his bed with all these changes going through his head all that the same time. How exactly he'd control them, he wasn't sure. What he was sure of was that he had to stop the racing and not fall victim to the unknown.
He had personally chosen not to have a relationship since his freshman year of college as he wanted to focus on both his Masters and MMA career. It was a strenuous schedule that he knew would prepare him for his dream of one day being a phenomenon in the world of professional wrestling. He didn't intend on starting a relationship with Karin when he interviewed her, regardless of his mother's urging since the day the two originally met. It just happened. There was a natural connection and chemistry between the two that happened almost instantaneously.
The house was a dream house for him. There was over an acre of land, a beautiful design aesthetic, and a picturesque view. The house was a short distance from the beach, an asset that the 25 year-old likely wouldn’t be able to take advantage of for at least a few months. The downsides would be a distance issue and a new city where he didn't really know anybody. That, to Dead Eye, is a bit of irony and a catch-22 at the same time. When he first started looking at the real estate market in the Midwest, it was because he felt he wanted a change of scenery and to be closer to work and his closest cousin. He also wanted to be away from the hospital where his father died. He didn't feel like there was much holding him there, as he could always just fly home to see his mom and sister. Now, he felt a bit of questions as the move would put him halfway across the country from Karin.
The Doctorate is something he had always vowed to do. He wanted that final piece of the puzzle in his education, and it would help him feel a bit more certified to help others. Nothing would replace what the two shared during their week together, but taking the classes could help him cope with some of the time apart. At the same time, Dead Eye has always been the type of person not content with being “good”. He wanted greatness in everything he goes after.
Perhaps there was one too many things going on all at the same time. No matter what, though, Dead Eye knows he cannot just let things overtake him. Everything will figure itself out. All of this could be stressful, but he reminds himself that this is the happiest he's ever been. So, if he has to make a few sacrifices and get a better grip on time management, that's what he's going to do. The “faith” tattoo on his abdomen reminds him that all will work out in his favor. He looks at the time on his phone: 12:22 AM. It felt like he'd been there so much longer, so he decided he'd reach out to a mentor for help. He slides his screen to life and dials.
Voice: Hello?
The scene fades out.
