The scene opens up with Gavin standing on the dimly lit rooftop of his apartment building in Las Vegas. He's wearing purple Sacramento Kings jersey along with a black Kings hat; while also wearing a pair of black jeans and he has the NGW Unified Championship strapped on his waist. It's obvious by the look on Gavin's face that he isn't here to play any games, he simply means business.
Gavin Grimes: “This job is a hazard. You go out to that ring and put your life on the line every time you step in there. Countless of people have died because of the moves they’ve endured inside of the ring… Whether it be then and there in the ring or dying outside of it later because of their bodies giving up from all of the drug and alcohol addictions they’ve accrued from all of the pain in their body. All of this happens because some people just don’t know when to give it up. They think they can keep doing this shit forever and that their bodies won’t GIVE OUT on them. This is the story of Corey Bull, everyone.”
“Do you really expect me to feel bad for his body finally giving it out? The guy has been doing this since the late 90’s, so what do you really expect? How many concussions do you think this man has endured over that time? His brain getting scrambled over and over again is the reason he has so many personalities and I’m sure it all started during his childhood when his mom hit his dumbass over the head with a fucking shovel. So if people want to point a finger at me for hitting him in the back of the head with my championship before his head went crashing into the turnbuckle pole, then go ahead but in your heart of hearts, you all know the truth.”
“The truth is that Corey Bull needs to die. No, I don’t mean that he needs to literally die, I just mean figuratively. He’s past his prime and the days where he used to intimidate people are over but he wants to just keep on hanging on because he doesn’t know when to say quit. You know you’re not intimidating when you let some skinny kid from Sacramento knock your ass out and put you in a coma.”
He rolls his eyes and shrugs his shoulders.
Gavin Grimes: “In one single night, I beat three-fourths of AoD, one way or another. The fourth guy, Gray Malone, has been dodging me since I challenged him. I guess he likes being spoon-fed easy victories against the likes of John Blade and shit. This week could’ve been Gavin versus Gray but instead we’re both stuck fighting jobbers. Heh, this week was also supposed to be Gavin versus Corey Bull but I guess that’s off the table and in a medical bed now, right? But you know what? I’ve wasted ENOUGH time with Angelz of Destruction. Collectively, Ash and I have beaten all of them in one way or another. They’re garbage and nothing is going to change that. Gray and Aurora bring the group some respectability but that’s not saying much when you have to be better than Bull and Gray.”
“But that’s not saying Aurora and Damon aren’t any good. They’re perfectly capable of holding their own in the ring, they proved that a few days ago against Ash and I. But now I’m hearing rumblings that Aurora can BEAT me for my NGW Unified Heavyweight Championship. That’s cute as fuck but she should stay where she belongs, which is in the tag team division. And for those who want to say Ash ‘carried’ me in that tag team match, first of all, I fucking held my own. Secondly, I’m not one to make excuses but I did wrestle a hard as fuck match the night before and beat Jackson Magnum in HKW, one of the biggest wrestling promotions in the world. What the fuck did the rest of the people in that tag match do while I was out promoting NGW?”
“So when I don’t look one hundred percent, it happens. But the thing is, I still came out the winner because that’s what I do. I go out there and I fucking win and win and win. But I still have my doubters for some reason. It’s been over seven months since I joined NGW and I still haven’t been pinned or submitted but you all still WANT to doubt me. ‘Aurora could beat Gavin, Ash could beat Gavin’, and so on. How about you stop fucking talking about it until it happens.”
He scoffs and shakes his head.
Gavin Grimes: “But you want me to play your underdog? Fine, I’ll play your fucking underdog. I’m used to it, really. My whole life has been an underdog story and it doesn’t matter how many times I prove myself and show how fucking good I am, you motherfuckers CONTINUE TO DOUBT ME. The thing is, the only thing you’re doing when you doubt me is that you make me better. You make me train even harder, which is saying something seeing as how I train a ridiculous amount already. You make me more and more obsessed with being the best wrestler that I can possibly be. I go out to the ring, night in and night out, and I fight for NGW… I fight for all of you.”
He looks down at the concrete rooftop under him and shakes his head.
Gavin Grimes: “But it’s never enough, no matter what I do, IT’S NEVER ENOUGH!”
His eyes are on fire as he stares into the camera and he’s basically seething at the mouth.
Gavin Grimes: “This week, I fight Heath Sommersby. Is that supposed to be a challenge? Is he supposed to test my willpower in the ring and take me to the limit? Nope, he isn’t. The only thing he’s testing is my PATIENCE. After I’ve had to defend myself over and over again to the masses, saying that I don’t get handed easy matches here in NGW, here I am, fighting probably the easiest match I’ve ever had in my career. I’d get more of a challenge from John fucking Blade but instead, I’m fighting Heath Sommersby. Thank you, Devlin, thank you for being a stupid idiot and booking me against somebody that doesn’t matter or mean anything.”
“But hey, I can’t complain I guess since I’m fighting Blyss Lockhart in IWF in less than a week. At least that’s a match that I can look forward to. Can’t say the same about this shit in NGW though. This is what Devlin wants though… He wants an angry Gavin Grimes. He wants to showcase Ashleigh, who’s his ‘top star’ all the while booking his greatest champion of all time against a nobody on the second match on the card. Maybe this is my punishment for almost putting Corey Bull six feet under. Actually, I shouldn’t speak too soon, maybe his coma will become permanent and you’ll all be thanking me for doing you all a favor. Who knows and who fucking cares?”
Gavin takes the Unified Championship off of his waist and holds it in his hand before he takes a few steps forward until he’s only a few inches from the tripod that he set up on the roof to record himself. He then holds the title up above the camera as he glares into it.
Gavin Grimes: “So go ahead, everyone, go ahead and say that I’m shown favoritism by management. Go ahead and say that Ashleigh is better and go ahead and make claims that Aurora can beat me in a singles match. Say whatever the fuck helps you sleep at night because NONE OF IT CHANGES WHAT I’VE DONE! NONE OF IT CHANGES THAT I’M THE FUCKING UNIFIED HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION! NONE OF IT CHANGES THAT I’M NGW’S LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION OF ALL TIME! NONE OF IT!”
He pauses and keeps his glare on the camera as if he’s glaring at everyone currently watching.
Gavin Grimes: “They say that you don’t know what you got until it’s gone. I’d say that would apply to me and NGW, that you won’t know how lucky you all had it with me until I’m gone but it’s completely impossible to have that shit apply to me. Why? Because I’ll never be gone and I won’t ever let anyone take me off of my throne until I take my last breath and my body is cold. So bring. Ashleigh, Aurora, Damon, Mark Storm, Avery Miles, Gray Malone, Heath Sommersby, the makeup artist, the person who runs catering, Devlin Scott… It fucking doesn’t matter who it is. Just bring it and just like everyone else before you, I’ll knock you all the fuck down in your place… And that’s on your knees in front of the King of NGW. You better believe that.”
He angrily grabs the camera and hits the stop button and the feed goes black.
