Friday July 1st 12:00PM Hopkins, Michigan
{Scene opens as we see Dirk Bentley driving down a dirt road in a Ford F150, windows down, radio cranking “A Country Boy Can Survive by Hank William Jr. As the truck begins to slow down and make a right hand turn next to a mailbox that reads “2146” into a washed out driveway leading down to a singlewide trailer that has definitely seen better days.
Dirk climbs from the cab and takes a look around at the rusted out, dilapidated vehicles still littering what used to be a yard.}
Dirk: {Sigh} Some shit never changes I suppose.
{Dirk makes his way around to the back of the trailer where more junk motor parts and debris are strewn throughout the yard, making his way up the rickety wooden steps that lead to a weather beaten door that’s barely on its’ hinges, as he stops for a moment and then knocks.}
Dirk: Dad? Are you awake?
Dirk: {Beginning to knock harder as he hears a grunting sound from the other side.} Come on… I know you’re in there I see your car in the drive way. Get up… I need to talk to you.
{Beginning to pound harder, suddenly the door pops open as Dirk steps inside and looks around. The place is covered in dust, trash all over the floor, wreaking of marijuana, with beer cans literally piled up in the corner. Stepping further in as he notices his father sleeping on the couch with a fan pointed directly at his head. Dirk takes a beer can and tosses on to the man’s chest startling him awake.}
Leroy: {Opening one eye while squinting and looking up at Dirk} You must be lost.
Dirk: No, I know exactly where I’m at.
Leroy: Really? So what the hell are you doing here?
Dirk: Like I said earlier, I’m here to talk.
Leroy: Well, you woke me up… So fucking TALK already.
Dirk: How about you sit your miserable ass up and actually pay attention to me for once in your life, you know… something that a real FATHER actually should do.
Leroy: {Swinging his legs, as he sits up on the couch glaring at Dirk.} You’d be best to watch your mouth. By the looks of it, you look like you think you’re grown, I don’t mind knocking the fuck out of you just like I did when you were a kid and reminding you of your place.
Dirk: {Cackles loudly} Still the same old delusional son of a bitch, as when I’d left this place long ago.
Leroy: I don’t know where you got that smart mouth boy, but I am about to shut it for you.
{Leroy attempts to get up from the couch, as Dirk facepalms him, shoving him back down}
Dirk: I’m not here for a trip down memory lane old man. You haven’t been able to do that task you just mentioned since I have been thirteen years old. I believe you attempting to kick my ass, and getting knocked out in the process is what caused me to leave this hell hole at that ripe old age of thirteen. It’s a good thing for you that I didn’t come here looking for a fight, you weren’t any match then… and you sure as fuck wouldn’t be now.
Leroy: {Grumbling to himself} So, what the fuck did you come back here for?
Dirk: I came back to let you know, despite your attempts to tell me that I would never amount to anything… that you were wrong as usual. Since leaving this God forsaken place, I have went on to become a very successful professional wrestler, made more money than you could ever imagine, met a beautiful woman that would’ve given birth to your grandbaby if she didn’t miscarry...
Leroy: Okay Mr. Successful, so again… why are you standing here?
Dirk: I came back to try and make amends. Despite all the horrible shit you put me through, that NO child should ever have to endure, including the way that we lived. It wasn’t until recently that I joined a wrestling fed called NGW and have been looked at like an outcast. Up until now I was ALWAYS revered as a top dog in any place that I hung my hat in. This place is different… they make me feel like you did. They belittle me and attempt to get me to question my self-worth, despite my past matches and Championships, none of that matters. All of their criticisms and degrading remarks has taken a toll on me. It took me back to a very dark place. One that YOU initiated. One that you alone were solely responsible for during my childhood. Causing me to snap and take drastic measures to become noticed and show the entire world that I was not some fucking pawn in their game and that I was the man that I say I am.
Leroy: {Chuckling to himself} I should be ashamed of that? Sounds like you should be thanking me. I MADE you the man that you are today. Without my tough love, it sounds like you would’ve ended up being some fucking pansy that you hear about on TV that doesn’t know which bathroom he should use. I was no harder on you than my father was on me and look, I turned out fine.
Dirk: {Looks around the room in disgust} You have got to be fucking kidding me. The fact that you seriously think this is fine shows how truly delusional you always were. Not my problem… What is my problem though, is my conscience when it comes to you. I do not want go to my grave knowing that I never gave you a chance to right all of your wrongs. I want you to know that I am happily engaged to a beautiful woman that I would like for you to meet. I am also fighting for the Heavyweight Championship in that fed that I just told you about. If you can pull yourself together and get yourself cleaned up… I would like you to attend that event and show ME that you’re willing to attempt to mend the past.
Leroy: {Stumbling over his words} I don’t know Dirk. I don’t have the money that you do and can’t just make it magically appear.
Dirk: I thought you’d say that… {Reaching into his pocket and pulling out four tickets, lying them on the table in front of his father} That there is two airline tickets and two front row tickets to the event tomorrow night. This is your chance to show me that you’re ready to move on. The choice is yours.

Friday July 1st Fight night eve in Las Vegas, Nevada Four Seasons Hotel
{Scene opens on Summer and Dirk inside a penthouse suite, sitting at the table with a bottle of Jack Daniels and a case of Coke.}
Summer: Are you sure we should be doing this? You have the biggest match of your career happening tomorrow night. I take it that your meeting with your father didn’t go very well?
Dirk: You know we’ve both drank a lot more than this. This is just to assist with the stress levels and don’t call him that. All he was, was a sperm donor. He never treated me the way a child should have been treated. He has to earn the title of father before he gets that title. I gave him the tickets for the flight and the event. Whether or not he shows? That’s up to him.
Summer: Fair enough, as far as stress levels, you know there is another way to take care of that a little later as well. {Winking at Dirk} what do you say you address Gavin for the last time so we can relax and enjoy the evening?
Dirk: Sounds great to me. Let’s get this show on the road I don’t plan on leaving it all on the ring.
{Summer leans back with her Ipad and begins recording Dirk}
Dirk: Here we go again Gavin for the last time, at least for this go around. Thinking back… it does seem like that it took quite a while to get here. Almost a year in the making. I think I saw one of you to post on Twitter that you’ve been dating for ten months. And you’ve been telling me that you were going to kick my ass and vice versa for that entire time. We’ve teamed together in matches when we had to for the better good, we even toyed with the idea of having a super group at one time. Realistically we both knew it couldn’t happen. When you have two people that can elevate each other’s game to that elite level, having them on both side of the fight is kind of limiting don’t you think? Then again, you know a little something about that already. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… ASHLEIGH IS TOO GOOD for the Five Lakes Title. But, she does what she does for you. That’s love right there. As much as I give her shit for having a girlfriend, I give her the utmost credit for putting her aspirations on hold to sacrifice for yours. You can claim all you want to that she doesn’t need or want Titles. If that is what YOU need to tell yourself at night to help you sleep? Who am I to tell you any differently? Mark my words though Gavin… When I knock you from your perch and humble you in front of GOD and the world… Watch and see who requests a match for the Title first. I suspect… it’ll be the woman that you’ve convinced yourself thinks Titles are trivial. Like I said, you’ll get no fault for that from me… If I was holding my beautiful woman like you are yours… Hell I’d tell myself whatever I could to help me sleep at night as well.
{Dirk takes a shot of Jack and then chases with a swig from a can of Coke}
Dirk: Ahh, that’s some good shit right there. Speaking of you Ash… I know you’ll be watching this promo and based on your twitter reactions, I see that you’ve accepted my offer to even be ringside. You have no idea how happy that makes me. To be able to look over at you while I am systematically destroying your fiancé in the ring is going to be something that I am going to treasure. Some might think you being there would be a distraction and favor Gavin. I digress and see things a little differently… The world saw what I did to you in that locker room, you felt the fear. Sure you were cocky in the beginning like you always are, and then when this tide changed and you realized just how helpless you actually were, the fear set in that you were at MY mercy.
That is going to be the same feeling that Gavin is going to be in come tomorrow night. With you at ringside, even more pressure will be on to put on a good showing. I already know from his words that he will be extremely irrational and looking to make an example of me in that ring. Seems like he’s been watching the “How to beat Dirk Bentley by Corey Bull” DVD. Another mistake that I could not be happier to exploit. With all that blind rage and pent up aggression and anger he is going to be a ticking time bomb, maybe I’ll blow you a kiss at the beginning of the match to kick it all off and get the match started with a bang.
{Summer chuckles as Dirk continues}
Dirk: You see Ash, your ego is what gets you into these situations. You are going to now be ringside to witness the carnage of what is to unfold between Gavin and myself. I’m sure in your fairy tale world of Mr. & Mrs. Grimes, you’ve already told him that he has this in the bag and that there’s not anything to worry about. But, is that sincerely true Ashleigh? Is there nothing for Gavin to worry about? Is that how you felt, when you were helpless and at my mercy? {Pausing for a second} I didn’t think so either. That is how he is going to feel tenfold when he gets in that ring with me. As soon as he makes that first mistake and I pounce on it, and capitalize on it to the fullest… I am going to be watching you as you sit there nervously, not a damn thing you can do about it except remember how it felt. Don’t worry Ashleigh… after I’m done embarrassing him and emasculating him… I’ll be awaiting your challenge down the line.
{Dirk takes a second shot and chaser before continuing}, Summer interrupts Dirk letting him know that Gavin’s final promo aired moments ago. The two watch for a few moments}
Dirk: Gavin, Gavin, Gavin…. When I said thanks for the HISTORY lesson I wasn’t really faulting you for celebrating your small triumphs. I was more or less referencing the fact that you obviously do not do your homework on your fellow competitors either. I made my name in LAS VEGAS. That city is where Dirk Bentley left Nashville, Tennessee and made a living in years ago. So to hear you say what you’re not going to do in YOUR city is simply repulsive. THIS is my city BITCH… Let’s make that perfectly clear. After you LOSE in your city, you will come to realize that just as much as me. Keep up the façade Gavin that you have a chance at winning this match and I’ll keep letting you believe that your legacy is intact… at least for a few more hours.
Yes, Gavin you self-absorbed little prick. The whole reason that I did what I did to Ashleigh is “just to have something to brag about”. You’re fucking pathetic. It must really bother you that not only did I knock her down a few pegs off her pedestal I’m about to do the very same thing to you. Don’t be mad Gavin, just because you’re a gutless fucking wonder and I am NOT. The bad part is… even if you manage to put my shoulders on the mat? You’ll keep fucking ducking her like the scared little twat that you are. And you’ll continue to claim that is all in the name of love and companionship that you’re doing it for. Truth be told Gavin… You just don’t want it PROVEN that she’s better than YOU.
{Dirk stands from the table and looks out over the Vegas Strip, checking out the city lights}
Dirk: This is a magical town Gavin and in a few short hours you and I will do battle for the richest prize in this company, just across the way at the UNLV Thomas & Mack Center. You want to say that you’re not going to let ME be the next “Jessica Sears” of this company. I assure you that will not happen. You will not see me turn around and lose a non-title match and then lose my very first Title defense. This Title has a lot more prestige than that piece of tin she defended in IPW. You’re just wishing that when you do lose that Title, it’s anyone else but ME that takes it off of you. Again, Not exactly something that you get to control at this juncture in time.
I will agree with at least one statement you made in your promo, “you are relevant because you are the man to beat” Because you have made a habit and excuse out of ducking the one person that could defeat you that still holds true, at least for another twenty-four hours. I like how you’re making this personal Gavin,
You’ve played this game exactly how I laid it out. Again, for being so SMART… you are borderline DUMB. If you would’ve saw the writing on the wall, you would’ve ducked this match like you have the one with Ashleigh until that whole situation died down. But, no… the HERO Gavin showed up just like I predicted, right down to trying to ambush me after I defeated Corey Bull for my spot in this match. Just as sure as all of this is predictable, so shall be the outcome of this match.
{Dirk walks back over the table and takes a shot of Jack straight}
Dirk: It’s good to see that you pay attention to me when it’s convenient. You caught the fact that I stated that this loss would cause your legacy to crumble, and while that may have been a slight exaggeration… You can’t deny that it wouldn’t take a toll and absolutely rock your confidence. You also make ridiculous assumptions about my character and that I give up or gave up on certain things. I believe you mentioned my tag team with Corey, Emma Dylan and my untimely brush with death. {Glancing at Summer since he knows some of this is a tough subject for her} Corey was a lost soul… I didn’t give up on him, I simply got tired of carrying his over sized ass with that ego, as far as Emma… You can’t give up on something you never had and I took that lack of a chance a lot harder than I should have and mixed some Vicodin and whiskey, again… not my finest hour. One thing that you can absolutely bet on since we are here in Vegas… is that I am NOT going to give up on walking out of that arena without that NGW Unified Heavyweight Championship… to quote a line from a good friend of mine… Your Luck Has Just Ran Out!!!
