004 * Moving Forward
Scene 001 - Former Location of SoCal Grappling Arts Center - San Diego, CA - June 1st, 2016
*Avery is inside of his former training home. The place that made the man that is AM3. He has a broom in hand as he sweeps up piles of trash from the building that has long stood empty. A broken down ring, some left over weights, and a ton of trash adorn the building. Avery got the call for the approval, the building is now his; as long as he makes the payments on the mortgage. A smile on his face as he can remember “The Old Man”, Fletch, barking orders as the young Miles. His phone rings.*
Avery: Hey, Taylor! Good. Yeah, just chilling at the old training place. Figured while I am here I can try to figure out how to best tackle it all. It gives some great chances for new wrestlers to train, and maybe I can lend a hand to those that need it.
*Avery pauses, listening to Taylor talk to him. A couple of minutes go by.*
Avery: You too, Tay. Uh huh. Okay. Talk to you later.
*Avery hangs up the phone. He heads over to the far wall where a half-broken bench remains. He has a seat, carefully, on it and begins to record*
Avery: We move forward, as we put things behind us. Wrestling here in Texas has been great for me and it has helped to expand my horizons. I appreciate the opportunities that were given to me, but it looks like Stop Five will be the final one for myself. I have decided to move forward and focus on some other decisions and choices. Much has changed since I first signed with CWT, and just like in life, our priorities change. I am grateful for what I’ve had here and I plan on finishing out my contract with a bang.
*Avery looks around the entire facility, just smiling. He can see promise whereas others simply find a building that looks twenty years behind the time and barely with any life to itself*
Avery: A Cage Survivor match with some of the very best that CWT has to offer. Bonecrusher. Wilsen. Nikita. Ashton. Lee. Lacklan. Donovan. Wiland. And Skeeter. And of course, yours truly.
*Avery scoots down a little bit, making sure not to slide too far towards the broken edge*
Avery: A match that allows the first stretch of the tour to come to an amazing end. A chance for me to end it all with a bang. But as much as I see the match in front of me, it is hard not to long into the future. Moving forward, I have title matches and getting this place back up and running. I have babysitting little Brooklyn, and finishing up getting the house in order. Taylor and I have some things to take care of in her life, back in Seattle. As much as it sucks to say goodbye, it is saying see you later more than anything. Who knows? You could see Avery Miles back inside a CWT ring one day.
*He stands up and walks over to a faded part of the wall. Avery runs his hand over it*
Avery: This is where the Commandments of the Ring used to hang. Thou shall not work stiff. Thou shall not bitch and complain.
*He laughs and shakes his head*
Avery: Good ole Fletch; he truly was a man hanging on to a generation that worked their hands to the bone, dusted them off, and continued working some more. I am glad that I was trained old school. It has made me a better man, and willing to put in the word. Whether I am in a singles match or a crazy match like this Cage Survivor match… I am ready for it. I know that coming into the match I face both people that I have beaten before, and facing others that I have not. I am facing recognized faces and leaders in this industry, and I am facing people that I simply know nothing about. That is the fun in a match like this. The combination of the unknown while working on so many opponents.
*Avery lifts his head, and looks around the whole facility. He heads out, shutting the lights out before he exits and locks the door behind him.*
Avery: I am ready to finish this out.
Scene 002 - Avery Miles Home - Las Vegas, NV - June 2nd, 2016
*Avery is just getting home from his travels as he pulls out his key and unlocks the door. He steps into the home and an aroma of food hits him. He drops his bag on the floor as he tosses the keys onto the nearby table. He heads towards the kitchen, and as he slowly enters Brooklyn, in her high chair, spots him. He puts a finger over his mouth to shush her, as she giggles.
Taylor: Is that funny, Brooky? Seeing mommy dance?
*Taylor’s back is to him as she is wearing a pair of booty shorts and one of his t-shirts. She gives it a little shake as the dances to the music playing. She is preparing a meal, as she did not know that Avery was able to catch an early flight. Brooklyn giggles some more as Taylor believes her booty shaking is cracking the three year old up, so she over emphasizes it. Left to right, even using a spoon as a prop for a mic. Taylor quickly jumps with a half-turn as she looks up and her eyes meet with Avery’s eyes*
Taylor: Avery!
*He laughs and offers her a clap*
Avery: Don’t let me stop you!
Taylor: You are home earlier!
Avery: Yeah, I got an early flight. A chance to spend a little bit of time with my girls until I have to fly back out.
Brooklyn: Avey! Avey!
*The blonde girl holds her hairs up into the air. She is covered in some sort of pasta sauce*
Taylor: You just home, I’ll grab her.
Avery: Absolutely not. She is all mine!
*Avery grabs her and lifts, proceeding to be covered in sauce as well. Nonetheless, he decides to head over to the sink and helps to wash off the girl. He peeks over her shoulder, seeing how cute Taylor is looking. Avery can finally move forward in his life. Things are not perfect, but when are they really? One last trip to Texas and things will be finished there, ready for the next step in his life*
