Brief Character Bio: The great-grandson of former Mexican President Lazaro Cardenas and of the royal bloodline of Emperor Maxmilian I, Maxmiliano Cardenas was destined for greatness. Named after his imperial ancestor, he was highly educated in Spain and was a former soccer prodigy and La Liga futbol champion. At the age of 21, he left futbol and returned to Mexico to train as a professional wrestler after a wrestling supershow in Barcelona fascinated him.
Cardenas professed himself a champion in waiting from the moment he started training in professional wrestling. He was the consummate student and a quick learn. Cardenas backed up his technical prowess and high-flying ability by becoming the Mexican Middleweight Champion within six months of his pro wrestling debut. He successfully defended his title for two years until he recently vacated it to sign with Alpha Rising. El Emperador was born. Viva El Emperador!
However, on May 26, 2016, Emilano and Teresa Cardenas, Maxmiliano's parents, were arrested and indicted by the Mexican military police in connection with the war against the drug cartels. The Ministry of Justice liquidated all the Cardenas businesses and froze all bank accounts. Maxmiliano was in Los Angeles when the arrests and indictments were handed down and he was forced to seek political asylum in the United States. Thanks to his Alpha Rising contract, he is allowed to stay in the US but cannot return to Mexico for the foreseeable future. Except for a couple American-based bank accounts, Maxmiliano is now on his own and cut off from his friends, family, and homeland. Alpha Rising is all he has left.
