001 * Debut, Take Two (CWT)
Scene 001 - Discovery Green - Houston, Texas - Thursday evening
*Avery Miles III makes a second debut in as many weeks. We was in Vegas last week, and this week looks to show up in Houston, Texas. Avery is not familiar with Texas, but he has performed in Northern Mexico on the circuits as well as in Southern California. Looking to branch out, it is about time that Avery begins to make a name for himself as much as he can. Being a third generation star, he wanted to add more to his plate and expand his horizons. So much has happened over the past few months that a complete rehash of the story for the fans in texas would go on forever but Avery wants to do his best to introduce himself. The cameras catch up to him as he is walking Discovery Green in downtown Houston*
"What a great part of this city. A place for people to come together. Green grass. Wetlands. Lakes. Trails. And even a stage for performances. I am not here to be some sort of spokesman for Houston."
*He laughs a bit as he makes his way to a bench*
"This is a green space in a city that needs it. It is something new. Something different. Something fresh. And that is what I am. I am bringing something new to this sport. Not new in the sense of never been done before, but new in the sense that so many people simply don't do it any longer. Respect. Honor. Virtue. Passion. Since day one, I have carried the weight of my families name on my shoulders. My father. His father before him. I want to bring tradition, while bringing in the new era. And with the opening of Classic Wrestling from Texas it gives me another opportunity to showcase my talent while looking forward to the future."
*Avery sits up a bit and cracks his fingers*
"So I guess I had better let the Texas audience know who I am. I am Avery Miles III. A third generation wrestler. My father was a star in California and parts of Mexico, but life got in the way and his dreams never came true. His father, my grandfather, was an amateur wrestler and went for the Olympic team. He finished just outside of the finalists. But he was a damn good athlete none the same. I've had to overcome my own tragedy in my life. Six months ago, my wife was killed in a car accident. And we found out she was carrying my unborn child"
*He lifts his shirt, revealing still somewhat fresh ink*
"The AJ tattoo is for my son. The dates are special for Zoe, my wife, and I. We knew each other since middle school. It has been a trying time, but things are slowly getting better. I met someone that I have a tremendous connection with, and things escalated quickly I am shortening the story, so I apologize if it all seems to jump so fast."
*He worries that people will instantly judge him for moving on quickly after the death of his wife, but there is so much that he hides from the public eye. So much that connects his fiance, Alycia, and him. So much that many people will never know. But he trusts that as they get to know him, they will learn what a good guy he is*
"Alycia and I have a connection that I would have never imagined to experience before. But that's life. Life can take away something that makes you question your own existence, and replace it with something entirely different. Alycia knows that I can never replace Zoe or AJ, but she also knows that I am ready to finally move on with my life. I have a big weekend ahead of me, and it begins in Texas."
Scene 002 - Outside the Toyota Center - Houston, Texas - Friday morning
*Avery is walking up and down the sidewalk with his phone in hand. He is scrolling, pinching-to-zoom, and shaking his head. He sees a group of people wearing Houston Rockets jerseys and heads over to them*
"Excuse me, do you know Rumble Square is?"
*They shrug as they are not sure. He looks over his phone some more as he cannot find anything in Houston called Rumble Square. He stops at the steps of the Toyota Center and has a seat*
"Well... I guess I will need to contact someone from CWT, because I cannot find any information on Rumble Square in Houston, Texas. Weird. Almost as weird as the minimal information that I have been given on my opponent. See, I like to do some research and learn as much as I can about my opponent. But it looks like he is a mystery to me as well. I know that he is much older than I, and his name is Andrew Ashton. He is from Seattle. And... that is about it. So I am wrestling a mystery man in a mystery place."
*He shrugs, taking it with an ease*
"I am sure that the kinks will all be worked out. Regardless of who is inside of the ring, I expect only the best. I plan on showing up, and giving it my all. I have a chance to right what I did wrong last week, and make a debut with a big win. I want to come in and make a splash. I want the fans to be AM3 fans instantly. I want to wow them. Show the entire roster what sort of athlete I am. I will make my name one to be known throughout the roster and Texas. "
*A couple of people on their lunchbreak pass Avery as he looks down at his phone, waiting for an answer back from CWT officials*
"At least it is a nice day here in Houston. I get to check out the city a bit. Get to know it."
*A fan approaches him*
Fan: "Excuse me, are you Avery Miles?"
AM3: "Yeah... you know who I am?"
Fan: "Yes! I am a fan of your stuff in NGW!"
AM3: "Oh awesome. Can I sign something for you?"
Fan: "Oh! That would be cool. Yeah, can you sign my shirt?"
*The fan is wearing just a plain white t-shirt by Avery does not care. He is happy to interact with fans.*
Fan: "What are you doing here in Texas? Aren't you supposed to be in New Zealand?"
AM3: "I actually signed on for the first tour of CWT; Classic Wrestling from Texas. We are performing tonight actually. I was sort of looking for the place. I couldn't find any information. Would you happen to know where Rumble Square is?"
Fan: "I am not sure. I am actually just here for work. Though I would love to check it out! Who are you wrestling?"
*Avery checks his phone, unsure as to his opponent is.*
AM3: " Some person named "The Final Star" Andrew Ashton. No chance you know who he is, possibly?"
Fan: "No idea."
AM3: "Yeah. Thought so."
Fan: "Well, I better be on my way. Maybe I can make some time and show up!"
AM3: "Sounds good, thanks for the support!"
*With that the fans makes his way down the street leaving Avery still confused as to the location and his opponent*
Scene 003 - Wolstein Center - Cleveland, Ohio - FLASHBACK - Feb 13th, 2016
*With both opponents down, Avery crawls towards the corner. He slowly pulls himself up to his feet. He climbs the turnbuckle until he is standing on the very top. Avery stands to his feet as he kisses his hand and points up towards the sky. He taps the "AJ" tattoo on his side as Avery jumps off looking for a Shooting Star Press. Karin Jasper sees it coming and rolls out of the way as Avery lands chest first crashing hard to the mat. Karin quickly to her feet as she grabs the head of Avery Miles, pulls him up, and hits a Jumping Spike DDT. He hits hard as she rolls him over for the pin. She hooks the leg. ONE. TWO. THREE.*
Scene 004 - Outside the Toyota Center - Houston, Texas - Friday morning
"I play that moment over and over again. I can't believe how close I was. So close to winning my first title. Sometime has passed now, and I am getting another chance. I am also opening myself up and getting some opportunities in a couple of new places. There is so much going on, but yet I still remain focused. It is important for me to do what I can to reach my own dreams. My own goals. I know that with continuing to work hard, put in my time, and never giving up I can make my own dreams come true. I can step out of the shadows of those that came before me; out of the shadows of my family name."
"A moment that should have been mine. I was so close. Within my grasp. And yet I came up short. I put it all on the line. And I cause my own downfall. If I could go back and do it again? I'm sure I would. I gave it my all. Pushed as hard as I could then. But inside, I held back. I was scared. I was alone. Fearful. Dealing with my own demons."
"But I have come a long way in a short time. Things have turned for the positive. And I am ready for the next challenge. I may not know anything about my opponent, but that does not hurt my own confidence. Will he have an upper hand in this match because he scouted me? He vetted me? Possibly. But I have things that even the scales. I have the hunger. The passion. The drive. The match is being written as "Ashton will look to show the young lion that there’s still some fight left in those old claws". Do I fear against a veteran that I know nothing about? No. Am I excited for the chance? The opportunity? Anxious perhaps? Sure. But fearful, I am not."
"I am ready for the challenge that is my opponent. For the challenge that is CWT. I plan on becoming a face for this industry. Someone that people can like, and someone people can look up to as well. I fight with respect and honor. Do I always win? No. But do I always give one hundred percent? Always."
"I am at the disadvanage of not knowing my opponent. Not knowing his style. His tendencies. I have zero tape on him. Heck, I don't even know what we really looks like. But all of that will change tonight. I will learn on the fly. I will pick it up as I go along. And in the end, I will walk away with my first win in CWT. Starting my career in Texas with a win. And I will leave Houston with a sense of success. Get ready for Avery Miles III, Texas. I am ready for you!"
*With that, Avery's phone rings as it is CWT officials giving him the low down on the location of the show. Avery gets up off of the steps and heads down the sidewalk as the scene comes to an end*
