The screen fills with the logo for the Upstart Documentary Production Company out of New York City...Fed-Up Production.
We cut away from the logo to an Airport Terminal where a lovely young woman of latin descent walks through stopping before the camera with a big smile.
" Good Morning, my name is Cara Moreno and this is My Life Inside the Ropes. Each week we will dig deeper into the World of Professional Wrestling from the young up and coming Stars of the business to the famous men and women that make the business what it is today. My Mother spent most of her adult life inside a Wrestling Ring in Mexico, working as the famed Luchadora La Caliente. I have been the Radio Host for Triple A's Lucha Weekly for the last year and I am the Editor of the highly popular Wrestle World Weekly."
Cara moves forward through the Airport. " Wrestling has been my life since, well since before my birth. So when I was approached about this project, I was both extremely excited and extremely critical that it be done right and with respect for the business that helped keep me in Diapers when I was a baby. So with that being said, I am about to board a Plane for the land down under. I will be traveling to New Zealand for a three-part series with our first subject on My Life Inside the Ropes...The Pureheart Paul Rogers"
A video package of Paul Rogers plays showing him working several matches over his years from a young man with a headful of hair to the now much older man that just defeated Kat Jones for New Generation Wrestling recently. We cut back to Cara now on the Plane heading for New Zealand.
" Won't you join me as we follow Paul Rogers through his build-up to the biggest match of his resurgent career when he steps into a Seven Person Elimination Match for New Generation Wrestling's Five Lakes Championship. The owner of NGW has graciously allowed our cameras behind the scenes and between the ropes as we follow Paul Rogers towards triumph or tragedy"
The video picks up again with Cara now on the ground in New Zealand in the City of Manukau with her Camera Man following her through an open air market on a beautiful seventy-degree day.
" Welcome to Manukau City a suburb of Auckland, New Zealand. I am meeting up with Paul here in the Central Market Place so that we can begin this journey...His journey."
A voice carries from behind her " No journey can start without morning Coffee"
The camera turns with Cara smiling as Paul gestures " Welcome to New Zealand"
My first meeting with Paul Rogers left me surprised with how eager this man into his forties was to get back into the Wrestling Ring where the grueling toll on a person's body is well documented.
" So when did you get your start in the Wrestling Business?"
Paul sat across a round Bistro Table at a Cafe down in the Market Place sipping from his cup. " I started competing in Amateur Wrestling while still in High School at around fifteen. From there I went to Minnesota at eighteen to train with Verne Gagne"
"What was it like training with Verne?"
Paul chuckles" Well Verne was definitely trapped in his old ways, but I like to think he gave me the foundation to build my career upon. I trained with several after him, but Verne was the guy that really started to open doors for me."
" So for the next Twenty Six years, you traveled all over the World competing and building quite a name for yourself. When you started training the next generation of Wrestlers in Las Vegas, some would have been content to simply retire then. Why not you?"
Paul shrugs his shoulders" Wrestling gets into your veins. I love to help train, and I am very proud of those that have gone on to fairly successful careers after training with me. But I always remembered George Bernard Shaw saying, those that can't do, teach. I didn't want to be one of those that couldn't do. But when you are in your forties and never really made much of a splash in the business outside of notoriety that came from the Independent Circuit, you just do what you got to do to pay the bills. Then my Father decided he was moving to Florida to live out his so-called Golden Years and the next thing I know I was away from the business that I loved the most trying to pull a Baby Cow out of its Mother before it died."
" But you didn't go back to Wyoming alone did you?" Cara asks with smile
Paul laughs, shaking his head" No I did not."
The video cuts away to a beautiful little blonde all smiles.
"Hiiiiii"
" Tell us your name please"
" Candice Turner, but everyone just calls me Candy"
" And you are the girlfriend of Pureheart Paul Rogers, correct?"
Candy giggled" I like to think of it as Keeper with Benefits. He does need a lot of keeping"
The scene cuts back to Paul and Cara at the Marketplace.
"So tell us about Candy"
Paul smiles big and bright." She is a little spitfire that I like to think of as the fuel to my fire. She makes me feel young when my body is making me feel very old. "
" There is quite an age difference between you two right?"
Paul laughs " Twenty years on my next birthday. I am like a whole other person in age difference I reckon. Geesh that makes me feel old too."
...
"So what drew you to Paul Rogers even with the obvious age difference?"
Candy smiles" The first day I started training with Paul. He told me I was too short, too slow, and I better get my little ass in gear if I was serious about being a Wrestler. I wanted to punch him in the face, but he was just being Paul. The man you see in front of a camera is the man I share my life with every day. Paul Rogers is and always will be just Paul Rogers. It is really hard not to love a man like that, even if he tried his best to keep from loving me " Candy winks " But I am pretty sweet and hard to resist"

"On March Twenty-Sixth, you will be with New Generation Wrestling up the road in Wellington, New Zealand for its highly rated Vendetta program on a night labeled Crowning of Champions. You have a chance to be one of those Champions, but you have to get by Six Other Competitors to do that."
Paul nods" Yeah, it should be quite a big night for New Gen and hopefully myself if all goes right.
" How do you feel about your chances in that match?"
Paul grins " Better than nothing, but not the very best for sure"
For the next two weeks, we will be traveling with Paul as he both competes with New Zeland's own Impact Pro Wrestling and preparing for the match that Paul has deemed the Lucky or Unlucky Seven elimination match. We will be with the Pureheart nearly twenty-four hours a day as he gets ready for what could be a make or break moment in his career revival. Stay tuned was we learn about Pureheart Paul Rogers'
Paul is shown, raising his head and looking at the camera with a smile" My life inside the Ropes"
TBC by me later.
