Feb 12th, 2016 - 1 day until NGW HOMECOMING: II
[Hayden Phoenix is scheduled to appear on a couple of radio shows to help promote HOMECOMING: II and New Generation Wrestling. He has brought along Kiana Pearson, the IPW Spotlight Champion as well. A media tour like this is a great way for her to get some additional exposure both for herself and for the company. They first appear on Rover's Morning Glory on WMMS 100.7FM.They sit together on a couch, as mics are on stands for each of them]
Rover: And we are back! We are joined by two stars. First, let me get into this... Jeffrey LaRoque is a BIG wrestling fan.
Jeff: T-th-tha-th-that I am! I wa-wa-went to the first Homecoming show l-la-la-last year.
Rover: That's right. Hayden Phoenix is here with us. A former Five Lakes Champion. He is not on the card, right?
Hayden: Correct.
Rover: You are coming off of knee surgery I've been told.
Hayden: Yes, unfortunately. But I expect to be back in action in about a week or so. But I will be on the commentary team for the Five Lakes Title match tomorrow night.
Rover: And the show is Saturday Night at the Wolstein Center. Very few tickets are left.
Chocolate Charlie: Very few they are saying.
Rover: So you better buy them immediately. We have a pair to give away before the end of the show. So it is New Generation Wrestling's Homecoming: II. The return of the Rags 2 Riches match. What exactly is that?
Jeff: We-wel-well Rover, you see...
Rover: Jeffrey, let the guest answer their own questions.
Jeff: Okay.
Hayden (laughing): Well it is a match that I actually took part in last year. It is a match where three briefcases are hung, two of them have title shots and one has a dirty rag.
Rover: An actual rag?
Hayden: Yes. The rag winner still has a shot to steal on of the title shots, but it would be in a 2 on 1 match.
Rover: That sounds sorta cool.
Hayden: And we are having two of these matches this year.
Rover: So tell me, what got you started in wrestling?
Hayden: It was something I followed as a kid. Ultimate Warrior. Bret Hart. Hulk Hogan. The days of the nWo.
Rover: How old are you?
Hayden: 29.
Rover: So how long have you been in wrestling?
Hayden: I've been in some shape or form since a teenage. Before I was 18. But I officially began "real" training at 18 and have been doing this full time since then.
Rover: Real quick, who is this fine looking young lady next to you.
[Kiana moves in to talk]
Kiana: Ki-.... Kiana.
Rover: Kiana. You are quite good looking. Can you stand up for a second?
[Hayden smiles at her and offers a hand to help her up. She stands up and shows off for a second before sitting back down, with the hand of Hayden]
Rover: And are you part of New Generation Wrestling?
Kiana: Well, no.
Hayden: She is actuallty a champion in Indy Pro Wrestling, essentially a sister company to NGW.
Rover: Oh, a champion? Showing this guy up, right?
[She smiles and nods, Hayden has a good laugh]
Hayden: She might seem sweet now, but she is a pitbull inside of the ring. Watch out.
Rover: Oh, I'd like to wrestler her. I mena, she'd probably kick my ass though.
[Kiana has a good laugh]
Rover: So, are you two...
[Hayden and Kiana look at each other, and sort of smile at each other]
Rover: Oh! So there is something going on there.
Hayden: Well, we are really good friends.
Rover: Really, really good friends I bet.
Charlie: Friends with benefits?
[The whole show laughs]
Rover: Tell us. Why should people make their way to the Wolstein Center tomorrow night, in this cold and snow?
Hayden: Well like I mentioned before, we have two Rags 2 Riches matches. You get to see what is going to be a stellar match for the Five Lakes Title between Avery Miles and the champion Karin Jasper. And two triple threat matches for titles, one being three of the biggest stars in NGW today. Plus, I will be there.
Rover: Will you be there?
[Rover looks at Kiana]
Kiana: Yes. Hay is bringing me, so I get to be backstage.
Rover: Lucky man. Well again, you can see Hayden and all of the NGW stars tomorrow night at the Wolstein Center. Call Ticketmaster for tickets. Thanks to the both of you! We will be right back.
[Rover and the rest of the show thank both of them for coming as Hayden and Kiana head down the hall. They are escorted into a small interview booth where they are met with local broadcaster Vic Travagliante is a part-time anchor on WKRK 92.3 The Fan as well as being a co-host of House of Hardcore. Both Kiana and Hayden have a seat and Vic introduces himself. The camera begins rolling]
Vic: I am here with NGW former Five Lakes Champion and guest Commentator at NGW Homecoming: II tomorrow night... Hayden Phoenix. And with him the Indy Pro Wrestling Spotlight Champion, Kiana Pearson. Thank you both for joining me.
Hayden: Thanks, Vic.
Kiana: Thank you.
Vic: First off, I thought that I would be one-on-one with Hayden, but the fact that I get to interview the both of you, thank you for the opportunity. Let's begin with Hayden. How does it feel being the one year anniversay of NGW and Homecoming, and having to be on the sidelines.
Hayden: At least I get to be here. An ambassador for NGW. Just a few weeks ago I could barely get off the couch. Now here I am, able to guest commentary at Homecoming: II. I am happy to just be involved. Would I like to be in the ring? Sure. But health comes first.
Vic: And you will be calling the Five Lakes match between Karin Jasper and Avery Miles III. Avery is someone that you are familar with, and most fans are aware your connection with Dead Eye; the soon to be husband of Karin. What are your thoughts on the match? And who do you see pulling it out?
Hayden: I think the match may contend for best of the night. I think both of them are going to pour their hearts into it. There is no way I can pick a person to win. I think either can do it, but it comes down to who will or won't make a mistake. And who might be able to capitalize.
Vic: Mind if I ask you a few questions, Kiana?
[Hayden places his hand on top of her and she holds it back, sits up, and is ready for her turn]
Vic: Winning a title so early in your career. I have to say that I am already a fan. But, what does that do for your mentality?
Kiana: Thanks. I appreciate you being a fan. It definitely gives it a boost. It helps me to know that what I am doing is correct. It shows that no matter your experience, you can work hard, train, and prepare yourself to show that you are the best.
Vic: And it shows. Any thoughts of the two of you training? Or maybe teaming up?
[Kiana looks at Hayden, but he offers her to answer]
Kiana: Well he's been showing me a little bit in the ring. And doing what he can as he has more experience than I do. And he never...
[She stares at Hayden for a second and laughs]
Kiana: ... lets me win. But if we were ever a tag team? Watch out. It would be amazing.
Hayden: It would be very fun to team with KiKi.
Vic: I know you both are pressed for time, so thank you for joining me. What are your thoughts on NGW in 2016?
Hayden: Good things. We are growing. We have the New Zealand tour coming up in a couple of weeks. After that, we will be on the West Coast for a bit. We have some great new talent, plus we seem to be building on the talent that we have. And with the birth of Indy Pro and their first Supercard "Origins" coming up... good things for 2016 all around.
Vic: Thank you Hayden. Thank for Kiana. Make sure to check out NGW Homecoming: II tomorrow night live at the Wolstein Center and make sure to check out Kiana every Monday night, live, at Indy Pro Wrestling.
[The segment ends as both Hayden and Kiana offer up thanks and hand shakes to Vic. Both Hayden and Kiana make their way back downstairs and into the Town Car awaiting them. The cars drives into downtown Cleveland back to their hotel]
