An IPW Logo flashes across the screen
(Melanie Walsh walks into control room wearing a brown leather jacket with a tan hoodie knitted sweatshirt underneath with jeans. Mel is all smiles.)
Melanie Walsh: Good evening Indy Pro Wrestling fans and welcome to the inaugural "Mel Speaks!" Today I am proud to bring in depth interviews with some of the IPW Wrestlers who made an impact last night and a preview on what's coming up next week on Conflict! It should be an amazing show, thank you so much for joining us!
(Melanie leans against a bank of monitors next to her)
Melanie Walsh: Last night's Conflict featured tons of great IPW action, not to mention two title changes! But more on that later. First off tonight, I caught up with Xavier Laroux, who's actions last night continued the already heated rivalry between himself and Zachary Sears.
(Xavier Laroux is walking towards the wrestler's parking lot at the Indiana State Fairgrounds when Mel catches up to him)
Melanie Walsh: Mister Laroux, do you mind if I ask you a quick question?
(Xavier turns around with a bit of an evil grin)
Xavier Laroux: Not at all, Miss Walsh. Go ahead.
Melanie Walsh: I simply want to ask, why get involved in the battle royal? I know you had your no respect speech but still...
Xavier Laroux: Because I needed to prove a point to the Goldenboy. What is respecting the guy in front of you accomplishing for Zachary Sears? Absolutely -nothing.-
(Laroux punctuates his statement with a wave of a hand that Mel backs away slightly from. Walsh waits a beat before speaking.)
Melanie Walsh: Do you feel like your actions earlier in the night distracted you from your match later on?
Xavier Laroux: Sometimes, when you have a lot going on, things slip through the cracks. Sometimes, personal matters override business matters.
(She nods)
Melanie Walsh: So tonight, you feel overall was a successful one for you?
(Xavier lets up a slight chuckle)
Xavier Laroux: Of course. I proved Xandor Cross wrong and I showed Zachary Sears that it is my personal mission to make sure he sees zero success in this business.
Melanie Walsh: Even though Laroux made his presence known during the battle royal, the lone woman standing at the end of his match was Kaylee Kasie. I caught up with her as well.
(Melanie and Kaylee are standing in front of a IPW banner)
Melanie Walsh: Congratulations on your huge win tonight. How did your mindset leading into the match help you earn the victory?
Kaylee Kassie: Confidence. The ability to know that I can win the match and to not allow Laroux to take the opportunity away from me.
Melanie Walsh: Speaking of opportunity, you've earned a huge one tonight. How does it feel to earn that tonight?
Kaylee Kassie: It feels amazing. I cannot wait to beat Daniels and take a title that should clearly be on me. I will lead IPW into the future.
Melanie Walsh: So you feel confident that you can knock off the newly crowned champion?
(Kassie has a look of confidence as she answers)
Kaylee Kassie: I had him beat last week for the Spotlight Title But he took the easy way and beat Emma Dylan. He never pinned me. So yes.
Melanie Walsh: So as you head towards the championship match, how does your mindset change? Any different preparation?
Kaylee Kassie: Keep working. Keep training. And lay it all out on the line.
Melanie Walsh: Kassie was definitely feeling prepared and ready for the challenge of facing Jacob Daniels last night, but can the two coexist on the same team? Next week on Conflict it will be the new IPW Heavyweight Champion Jacob Daniels and the newly crowned number one contender to his title Kaylee Kassie as they take on the established team Shakedown. I don't know about you, but this girl is looking forward to that match.
(Mel smirks as she crosses her arms in front of her)
Melanie Walsh: Another match for next week was made last night, as Morgan Russo knocked off Issac Solo's project, Pavola Kekoa. Solo demanded a match against Russo next week because of this...I caught up with Morgan in the locker room last night.
Melanie Walsh: Congratulations on your huge win tonight! You seem to be on quite the roll
(Russo nods and smiles a bit)
Morgan Russo: Hey, two wins in a row that makes me pretty happy
Melanie Walsh: How are you going to approach your match with Solo next week?
Morgan Russo: He is big but I've dealt with that before. We also faced off in Redefine where he beat me so I have some redemption in mind
Melanie Walsh: How do you think this match up will be different?
Morgan Russo: I've grown as I think people have seen. I know what he brings to the table he hits hard and is smart. I just need to be faster than him. Plus I have confidence when I faced him the first time that was my first ever match so I didn't know what to expect.
Melanie Walsh: So, you think your history with him will give you a leg up?
Morgan Russo: No, I think he has the momentum he has beaten me before I need to prove I can beat him. But he saw what I did against his partner. He knows where I am at now
Melanie Walsh: Well, its going to be a great match and I know I'm looking forward to it. Good luck.
Morgan Russo: Thanks I hope I do well
Melanie Walsh: Russo seems to view herself as the underdog in this match. A complete contrast from the next woman I interviewed last night.
(Kiana Pearson is standing next to Melanie admiring the Spotlight title belt on her left shoulder)
Melanie Walsh: First of all, congratulations are in order. You certainly earned the Spotlight Championship tonight
Kiana Pearson: Was there any doubt in anyone's mind Melissa?
Melanie Walsh: It's Melanie...but that's ok. What's your reaction about what happened afterwards?
(Pearson rolls her eyes)
Kiana Pearson: Melanie, whatever. Are you the star or am I? Answer my question before I answer yours
Melanie Walsh: Ok. Well, I'm sure there was a bit of doubt. However, you did seem to be a heavy favorite going in.
Kiana Pearson: Now to answer your question, what do you think my reaction is? I was attacked after a brutal match, a match where I simply was better than BOTH my opponents. Alexis Terry wants to use MY moment to make a splash? There might be sharks in the water. Bish is out her mind!
Melanie Walsh: So, are you planning on retribution on Alexis? Or are you going to get your revenge in the ring?
(Kiana looks at Melanie as if she has three heads in reaction to the question)
Kiana Pearson: Do I look like an idiot to you? Why would I give up my gameplan? How did you even get a job Melissa?
Melanie Walsh: It's a simple question Kiana. Let me change gears, what do you want to tell the fans after your championship victory?
Kiana Pearson: I wanna tell the fans, they #ShouldaVotedKiana before my match instead of Emma because there was no chance I was losing. They wanna hop on the bandwagon now? Too bad, this wagon left the station without them.
Melanie Walsh: Congratulations once again and thank you for your time.
(Pearson doesn't answer and just walks away as Melanie's shoulders slump slightly.
Melanie Walsh: It's Melanie by the way...Not Melissa.
(Melanie just nods slightly as the camera comes back on her.)
Melanie Walsh: A charming new Spotlight Champion...Who will defend her title in the main event next week against the woman who attacked her after her match, Alexis Terry! Conflict is shaping up to be a great night of action that no wrestling fan will want to miss!
[Richard Kelly] - If Stevenson hits this then it's lights out for Jacob Daniels and back to the bottom with him, good riddance!
[Chris Barkley] - Fight Daniels, fight!
As Daniels gets to his feet, Stevenson doesn't make a move until he sees the glint in Jacob’s eyes. The moment he catches sight of it, he throws himself forward. Throwing his leg up in the air, he goes for the killing shot.
But Daniels ducks down under it, avoiding the finishing blow. Stevenson staggers forward thanks to the momentum, he turns around just as Daniels catches the man. Scooping hin up, he spins Stevenson around, snapping back into that STO, hitting every single inch of it!
[Chris Barkley] - BOMBS AWAY!
Quickly, Daniels rolls Stevenson over, draping his battered, bruised, and beaten body over the champion as the official drops for the count.
ONE!
TWO!
THREEEEEE!
[Chris Barkley] - NEW CHAMPION! JACOB DANIELS HAS BEATEN DREW STEVENSON!
[Richard Kelly] - Amazing effort put out there by Daniels. Still don't think any better of him.
[Maria Perez] - HERE’S YOUR WINNER AND NEWWWWW INDY PRO WRESTLING HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION...JAAAACCCCOOOOBBBBB DANIELLLLLLLSSSS!
Melanie Walsh: A new Heavyweight Champion crowned. A historic night for Indy Pro Wrestling and I had a chance to talk to the brand new champion immediately following his huge win.
(Walsh is standing just inside the curtain as Daniels walks through it for the first time as champion. He notices her immediately and stops.)
Melanie Walsh: Jacob, huge win for you tonight. Tell me, how does it feel to prove your critics wrong?
Jacob Daniels: Honestly, I don't pay attention to them. I don't have the time to worry about the negative people and the trash they have to say. I know how good I am, now they can see what I have known all along.
Melanie Walsh: You may not pay attention to them, but you've forced them to pay attention to you. But with that belt comes a bigger target. You feel you're prepared for that?
(Daniels smirks at the statement)
Jacob Daniels: I'm undefeated in IPW, I have been a champion since the first event. I know the target is on my back, I know it gets bigger each and every week. I want it to, I want everyone's best shot at me every time they face me... I'm not afraid of competition.
Melanie Walsh: Ok, be honest...Who are some of your biggest threats in the company?
Jacob Daniels: Right now? Kaylee Kassie is. She has the shot against me at Origins so she has to be at the top of the list based solely on that. Other great talents are Emmie Dylan, Kiana Pearson and even The Messiah.
Melanie Walsh: Excellent response. Ok, last question. What can the fans expect from you now that you're officially on top?
Jacob Daniels: The same greatness that they have seen from me from the start here in IPW. Even as the IPW Heavyweight Champion, I'm still not satisfied.
Melanie Walsh: So you're saying you're only going higher then?
Jacob Daniels: I'm saying I'm going to take this company on my back and raise it to levels never imagined before.
Melanie Walsh: Well, let me congratulate you once again on your great win and I look forward to speaking to you again soon.
(She offers a handshake that Jacob returns.)
Melanie Walsh: Powerful statements. A new era has officially begun with Daniels, but as it does I took a moment to speak to the former champion, Drew Stevenson.
(Stevenson is standing outside of his locker room with Walsh to his right)
Melanie Walsh: Huge match that didn't go in your favor tonight. How do you feel after that tough loss?
Drew Stevenson: I feel fine, believe it or not. Big matches come and they go, it's what you do after that matters the most, how you rebound.
Tonight? Jacob was simply the better man, he wanted it more than I did and I couldn't be happier for the guy, he deserves it and God help the next person in line to face him.
Melanie Walsh: A very classy response. I wouldn't expect anything less. So, what's next for Drew Stevenson?
Drew Stevenson: Well, that's a great question Melanie and I know there has been some speculation since my contract was up tonight.
Many people aren't going to like this but I have decided to not renew my contract. I want to thank Charles and the IPW for everything that they have done for me but to answer your question; what's next?
Keep your eyes glued to NGW Television because before you know it -- I'm going to be standing at the top of the marquee, pun intended.
Melanie Walsh: And with that, Stevenson's time with Indy Pro Wrestling has drawn to a close. But have no fear IPW fans, there is still tons of a great action coming up on next week's Conflict...LIVE on my birthday, February 15th from the Indiana Fairgrounds! Be sure to keep up with the latest news here on the IPW website and you can always follow me on Twitter @melspeakstweets
