Title Match Wrestling shoot interview
Shelley Silver sat on her big comfy couch in her game room with a sheet over it. The very same couch that she has sat on for a couple of past promos. She had the steering wheel controller for the Nintendo Wii U in her hands, and it appeared as though she was playing Mario Kart 8. The sound of a young man clearing his throat can be heard.Interviewer: Would you rather wait until you’re finished?
Shelley shook her head with a smirk.
Shelley: Nah, I’m doing an online multi-player tournament. I can do both.
Interviewer: Sounds good to me. So first of all, congratulations winning the New Generation Wrestle Five Lakes Championship. Where is that, by the way?
Shelley: Thanks. Whenever I win a title, I keep it locked up. Especially after what happened the night that I lost the EWC United States Championship.
Interviewer: So that was a real thing? The belt was actually stolen by that freak?
Shelley nodded.
Shelley: Things tend to get crazy over there. Sometimes I wondered how much of a gimmick Living Dead Karl actually was. They actually had me believing all of that black magick they were doing. But yeah, he did actually steal the belt that night. All because he couldn’t handle that I handed him his first loss.
Interview: Now what other companies may not understand is that EWC rarely does angles. The fighting is real.
Shelley nodded.
Shelley: It’s as close as professional wrestling can get to MMA or puroresu in a western promotion. What people tend to fail to realize is that we legitimately hurt each other on a weekly basis there. I started wrestling with the Extreme Wrestling Corporation, and as I branch out to other organizations, I don’t change anything. No matter where I go, I don’t have a gimmick. I am a fighter. Sure, I may also be an actor, but I have yet to see a reason to bother trying to be someone else when I go out into that ring.
Interviewer: I thought that was required in professional wrestling.
Shelley: Honestly, so did I. At the same time, I got myself into a groove of the way that I do things in EWC, and no one has bothered to say anything about it.
Interviewer: Then you branch out to NGW.
Shelley sighed, pausing to comb her hair back with her fingers between races.
Shelley: I refuse to adapt for them. Sure, I may not have started out with a less than stellar record, but they saw something in me. Now I’m one of their champions. I must have been doing something right, despite my losing streak.
Interviewer: Well, you did put up an amazing fight against Gavin Grimes. I don’t think that anyone in NGW expected you to actually give him a fight, let alone make him break a sweat.
Shelley: I even proved a point in that matchup. You see, in EWC, we don’t count rebuttals as legit promos. Most people don’t even bother watching after they realize that is all that someone is doing. So I’ve gotten use to just cutting one straight up promo on my own, and letting that speak for itself. When I went up against Gavin, all he did was reply to my promo in his. That shows absolutely no creativity. Being petty, and just replying to something that someone says about you doesn’t show me anything. I’m not the only one who feels that way, either. For every breath that you waste simply replying to your opponent, you lose on on that much more verbally trashing them, like promos are meant for. Anyone who has seen my promos from EWC knows that I can rip apart my opponent verbally from here ‘til Sunday before I literally throw them from ring post to ring post. I don’t even bother watching their videos before I finish mine, even if they get theirs done first. I could argue, but where does arguing really get anyone in the long run?
Interviewer: Migraine city.
Shelley chuckled with a nod.
Shelley: Precisely. I’d rather just verbally rip my opponent apart to help make me look good before I actually rip them apart. It shouldn’t be too much to ask.
Interviewer: But still, you have to look at the fact that not only did they give you a title shot, but you won it. Maybe things are changing.
Shelley smirked, nodding.
Shelley: Change is good, right? Not only did I win the Five Lakes Championship doing what I always do, but I fully intend on continuing that trend and making the division stand out. I fully intend on giving it all of the glory it deserves.
Interviewer: How about we talk about your first opponent as Five Lakes Champion, Ashleigh Jericho?
Shelley sighed, shaking her head.
Shelley: Everyone knows that I consider Ashleigh and her man, Gavin Grimes, friends outside of the ring. We have nothing but respect for one another. Gavin and I showed that a month ago when we faced each other. Now Ashleigh, she’s a lot like myself. That girl is a fighter. Last year when I was injured, I wanted nothing more to get back into that ring. I still worked out every single day, all while allowing my injury to properly heal and rehab. I didn’t look at that as more time to screw around and play video games. Sure, I’m a gamer, but I do it to unwind. I’m nothing like Jessica Sears is with it, though. Personally, I think that girl is adorable, and she gets away with it.
Interviewer: Now for the elephant in the room?
Shelley perked up with a gleeful smile.
Shelley: You mean the one with pink and purple polka dots? It’s like I said before. Dirk Bentley did not do what he thinks he did. Simple as that.
Shelley shrugged with a smirk.
Interviewer: And what do you believe that Dirk Bentley thinks that he did?
Shelley: He thinks that he victimized Ashleigh. That he somehow dehumanized her. He believes that he turned himself into the next Chris Brown. He thinks that he gets to be a shameless woman beater, then all he has to do his put out a hit single, and all is forgiven.
I’m sorry, but this is a co-ed sport and most intelligent people haven’t forgiven Chris Brown for what he did to Rihanna.
Shelley turned to look at the camera.
Shelley: Hey Dirk, you forgot to get a tattoo that grossly resembles a battered Ashleigh Jericho on your neck.
She rolled her eyes and went back to her game before continuing.
Shelley: Dirk also thought that I was stupid for thinking that the look of seeing Ashleigh with a bruised up face was sexy. You see, there is being battered and helpless and there are the battle wounds of a warrior. What Ashleigh had was the latter. Ashleigh Jericho is a strong woman. A very strong woman at that. If she were weak, like it seems as though Dirk Bentley thinks that she is, then she wouldn’t wrestle men.
Interviewer: That is a common misconception about females in combat sports.
Shelley nodded.
Shelley: Even the girls who only wrestle against girls get that shit. That we’re all dainty little flowers, and we’ll break if we try to fight. Dirk Bentley may even think that he beat Ashleigh Jericho, but what he did was cold and calculated. He did things that had no honor. Things that had no place in the world of combat sports. What he did earned him zero respect from any higher powers that anyone believes in. I’m sure that he has even explained himself. I may have even heard the explanation, but he sounded like one of the adults on Charlie Brown when he did so. All he really did was catch Ashleigh offguard. It happens to the best of us.
Because honestly, the simple fact is this. Everyone already felt like Dirk was an idiot, but instead of trying to prove that he is smart, he tried to prove that he is tough. Major logic fail there. So in the end, all I really have to say is that I will be looking forward to when Dirk gets his title shot against Gavin. Because Gavin will just soften him up. Then once the bell rings, and Gavin retains his championship, Ashleigh will make her entrance and give Dirk a taste of his own medicine. But I digress. I recently tweeted Ashleigh, asking her if she is absolutely sure that she was ready to come back to the ring. Because I could just let her go in not ready and get myself the easy win, but I’m not that type of champion. I want Ashleigh to be in better condition than what she was before Dirk put his hands on her. Otherwise, I may just refuse to let the match to happen. Have Devlin put her on the backburner until she is in tip top shape and fully ready to face me. Quite frankly, I won’t settle for any less than that.
Interviewer: So you don’t want your match to go the way that John Blade seems to think that they do?
Shelley chuckled, shaking her head.
Shelley: Oh no. I don’t want to win any match because someone wants the storyline to go that way. And honestly, even if we did do things that way in wrestling. I am fairly sure that they wouldn’t want us talking about it on camera. There needs to be a bit of mystery and believe-ability. I like to put on a good show, but I want it to be real as possible at the same time. Maybe it’s because I learned martial arts first, maybe it’s my Native American heritage, but I believe fully in honor. There is no honor in the way a lot of people handle themselves in this business.
Interviewer: You don’t exactly look like you are on a one woman crusade to change that.
Shelley: As much as I would like to take on a cause like that, I’m not deluded. I know that I probably couldn’t even fix one company, let alone all of them. Sure, I’ll speak my peace, but in the end…
She smiled softly with a shrug.
Shelley: I’d rather just fight.
Interviewer: Anything else you would like to add?
Shelley: No, I’m about to wrap up this tournament. Once I’m done here, I’m going back to the gym. I’ve got three matches next weekend, including my Monarchy Wrestling debut.
Interviewer: Well, I wish you the best of luck. Thank you for your time, Shelley.
Shelley: No problem. Any time.
